Chicosci is a 5-piece Filipino rock band based in Manila. The band is composed of Miggy Chavez, Carlos Calderon, Mong Alcaraz, Joel Salvador and Ariel Lumanlan. They found the newest member Ariel, on November 2007 to lead as a guitarist after Sonny Baquisal‘s departure as a guitarist.

Formation and early days
What started out as a group of young college kids from the Ateneo de Manila University, Chicosci (Previously Chico Science)was originally composed of Miguel Chavez, Miguel Alcaraz, Carlos Calderon, and now Mark Estacio. The four enjoyed playing together so much that they decided to take their music seriously by recruiting guitarist Sonny Baquisal and long-time friend Eugene Esquivias to solidify the songwriting process. The band won an interschool Battle of the Bands and spent the prize money in recording a demo � an investment that landed them a two-album record deal with EMI Philippines. The band released the albums Revenge of the Giant Robot and Method of Breathing.

History
Moonstar88 was formed in 1999. They are signed to�Sony BMG�by 2007.The band members all run successful careers outside their music. Maychelle is a pharmacist; Paolo is a famous video director; Bon Ryan is a radio marketer; and Herbert is an accomplished advertising creatives.
The name of the band was chosen after they had landed a gig, but did not have a name for their band. They wrote down a list of names and when they were about to perform, they choose Moonstar. They added the number 88 since Moonstar was the 88th name on their list.
They belong to Backbeat Management – the same management that handles more famous bands such as Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Queso, and The Youth.
Just recently, they made a remake of Yano’s famous song, “Senti”.

Nominated for Favorite New Artist in the 2007 Myx Music Awards, Callalily broke into the music scene with “Stars” which spent two weeks at #1. Their second single “Take My Hand” only made it to #3. They proved they still had more to give with “Magbalik” which spent 7 consecutive weeks at #1.They have another hit, “Pasan” (OST of Lineage II), which spending 6 non-consecutive weeks at #1 while their last single “Sanctuary” debut on the hitchart at #3 spot and quickly arose at #1 on its 3rd week.

- 8 Toleran stands as the groups producer. Although all of them actively participate on the entire process of making a studio album, post and pre, 8 toleran took it up during college. All three albums have been co-produced by the band

- Along with Greyhoundz, Slapshock and the now defunct Zooooom � Queso (then Cheese) were the last “regular” bands to play at Club Dredd KM19 before it closed
- 2003, Robert dela Cruz (skychurch) took on drum duties replacing Pow Rosal

- Pow Rosal now plays drums for Kapatid
- 2006, won the local championships of The World Battle of the Bands and went on to play HK for the world finals

| Biography | BBS is … Darwin Hernandez (of Soupstar Entertainment) Rye Sarmiento (of 6cyclemind) ... STORY It all started with an idea of the Soupstar team to form an all-star band that will produce pop songs … “BBS” that stands for ‘Big Band Syndicate’ and would include Rye as the lead guitarist. As the name implies, the band would be composed of big names from the vocals, to the guitars to the drums. This, however, proved to be challenging since an all-star band’s members schedules were hard to arrange to even have an initial meeting. It seemed impossible … Meanwhile, Darwin and Rye kept writing songs for BBS and enjoyed the song creation process … the first one of which was “Bata”. Then this was followed by “Wala na Tayo”, “Pawiin” and more. The two believed in the power of the songs so they decided to continue with this project and just find artists that would give life to the songs. For every song, they handpicked who will be perfect for the vocals, for the guitars, for the bass guitars, the drums and other elements that would complete it. This was the process they underwent in producing their first offering, Ctrl+Alt+Delete+Restart. Ctrl+Alt+Delete+Restart is the first album of BBS that features Kean (Cipriano of Callalily) as the vocalist for all the songs. He is then joined by different artists such as Raimund Marasigan of Sandwich in drums and keyboards (for “Payong Kapatid”), Buddy Zabala of The Dawn in bass (for “Payong Kapatid”), Jay Durias of South Border in keyboards and vocals (for “Pawiin”) and other artists of equal caliber. Definitely, the Ctrl+Alt+Delete+Restart album is just the start of their long journey in contributing to the local music industry. BBS will not stop in just presenting all-star projects but would also like to become the vehicle for introducing new talents. Darwin and Rye will continue to write songs and produce interesting projects that will feature rock to hiphop to love songs and other music genres. BBS represents their passion for music creation and can ultimately stand for “Basta Bago Sya”!See More |
